PROJECTS
From coral reef restoration, coastal and ocean waste management to outreach and awareness initiatives, we engage and collaborate with local communities in Bali, Indonesia, to create impact projects that restore marine biodiversity and give back to the ocean.
CORAL REEF RESTORATION
Livingseas Foundation is building one of the largest coral reef restoration sites in Indonesia. Situated off the coast of Padangbai, a small fishing village in the northeast of Bali, it is set to cover an area of 5 hectares. Active restoration work started in 2020, find out how big the new reef is now.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Waste is a global problem, but while industrialized nations have recycling facilities and working waste management systems, Bali's waste problem is growing. To alleviate this issue, Livingseas Foundation and its' partners have designed a modern collection, waste disposal and recycling system.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS & UNIVERSITIES
Livingseas' carefully designed School and University Programs provide hands-on educational experiences to inspire the next generation of ocean conservationists and change-makers.
Our curriculum focuses on sustainable practices in coral reef restoration and engages in interactive activities including environmental stewardship and field trips to marine habitats.
RAISING AWARENESS & COMMUNITY
OUTREACH
Managing waste is not enough, we need to prevent waste from being generated in the first place. In order to achieve lasting change, we engage and involve local communities.
Our community programs equip local youths with the necessary skills to play an active role in fighting climate change, restoring coral reefs and implementing better waste management.
TUI Sea the Change
"TUI Sea the Change in Bali" is a marine conservation project in collaboration with TUI Care Foundation and Livingseas Foundation. The project promotes sustainable tourism by offering an opportunity for everyone, from local students to tourists, to participate in coral reef restoration.
One of the key focuses of the project is to train and develop local tour guides capable of leading coral workshops and snorkeling tours from a floating pontoon. After completing the training program, a pontoon will be stationed above the reef restoration site in Padangbai, serving as a hub for coral workshops and eco-snorkeling excursions. This new coral restoration activity is scheduled to start in early 2024.
